What an amazing experience with the family! Looked after from the moment we arrived to when we sat down and chose our images. Drinks offered and topped up whilst we took turns having hair and make up. The make up and hair was impressive, just as we had hoped. The professional photoshoot was great fun and we were amazed at the range of images. It was a hard choice as every shot captured something special! Lots of memories made as a family. Never had a family photographer before? You probably have some questions.
Unlike couples and people who arrive solo, a family photoshoot can be more complicated to coordinate. It can be frustrating to massively overrun or go to all the effort of getting people together only to not get the shots you want. Luckily there are a few things you can do to prevent this. One of the main things to do is prep the children. Here are a couple of golden tips below!
- Get your outfits coordinated and prepared in advance and make sure they’re ironed the night before.
- If you have a baby, work your voodoo to get them to sleep before the shoot. Nothing makes a photographer happier than seeing a sleeping baby whilst other family members are in hair and makeup.
- Also getting them fed and changed beforehand is ideal as it avoids any irritability that may occur during the shoot, which of course will allow smoother sailing when getting the shots. It’s much easier to get those all important smiles after a sleep, a change and a feed!
- With small children or family members who do not need hair and makeup, you may prefer to get them to arrive just before the photoshoot. This prevents boredom in the little ones and not to mention some of the gents who do not wish to watch hair and makeup!
We have so many hints and tips to ensure that your family day runs smoothly but it is absolutely necessary to do a little preparation to make sure you do get the results you are looking for, as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
The duration varies based on the package you choose. Our in-house shoot with makeup and hair lasts 4 hours, the in-house session without makeup and hair is approximately 90 minutes, and the on-location photography in London ranges between 1 to 2 hours.
